Taylor Swift said it best (yes I am about to quote TSwift. proceed through the rest of this post with caution. there will be lots of lovey dovey stuff): life makes love look hard.
Marriage isn't easy. It's hard work. It's an every day, 24 hour, 525,600 minute job. Needless to say, that shit is full time. Life gets in the way - jobs take over, money becomes tight, children distract and before you know it a year has gone by in the blink of an eye. You stand in the shadow of the last 12 months wonderstruck (::coughtswiftcough::) and in absolute awe of what you've created, what you've fought and everything you have conquered. Sometimes you forget to love, kiss him goodbye in the morning while rushing out the door, hug or dance for no good reason other than to hold your husband in your arms. Everything else gets in the way. Life makes love WORK hard.
Often what it takes to remember how you feel about someone is a quite night sitting on a dock over looking the darkness of the water & light of the city. Talking about dreams again, like you once did ages ago on a first date with your feet buried in the sand, your hand held tightly in his. In that moment, when he brushes a rouge bang back into place, you remember everything you love about him - the way your hand still feels tiny in his. How he holds his daughter. His random, silly pipe dreams that make his eyes light up with life. The laugh he only shares with you in bed at night. When he takes your hand while your driving and you have to remember to breathe.
Love is never simple. Marriage isn't easy, because if it was ... it wouldn't be worth it.
Happy anniversary to the person who makes dreams come true.
